Or at least, a day at a time. Winter just wants to hold on a little bit more. Spring always makes me think of going to park on Easter after Church for a picnic and Easter Egg Hunt. There were quite a few of us, counting cousins and friends. Picnics make wonderful memories. The type that stay with you all the years of your life. Running around as kids. Watching your own kids run around. Watching your Grandkids run around. That is something lifetimes are made for. So, on the first pretty day you can, Get your Kids, Grandkids, or just someone special and head for the park, a lake, or just somewhere quiet and make your own memory to last you a lifetime.
http://mamasgalskitchentalk.blogspot.com/

Hello Everyone,
Well, winter is upon us and Valentines day around the corner. I know that many women like to get flowers and candy on Valentines Day. And we will not forget the favorite of jewelry. But maybe something for the house or kitchen would be good too. I know the older I get the more non-romantic gifts mean as much as roses. I am looking forward to may be getting a new set of dinnerware that I have had my eye on. Or maybe the new canister set . Well I guess you get my meaning. Or maybe the flowers and the new dinnerware set. NOW THAT WOULD BE A GREAT VALENTINES GIFT!
http://mamasgalskitchentalk.blogspot.com/

Another New Year

Every New Year we try and live up to the hope of the new year by making promises of things we will do this year. Well, this year I am not going to make one. If I loose some weight, fine. If I manage to keep the dust bunnies out from the corners of the rooms, fine. If I get into the kitchen more often that my husband, he will appreciate it, but not a requirement for his love. I am the sis who married a guy who trained for being a chef. Not formally in one of those big cooking schools, but in high school. The guy won alot of awards for his cooking. I love to cook for family get togethers. My sis is the one who manages to cook everyday and do it well. The kitchen is still a special place for me though. It has always brought back memories, fun times, and warm feelings even today. So, this year I will just keep on enjoying the kitchen with my husband, with my sister and with my family. That is the only promise I make this year.
http://mamasgalskitchentalk.blogspot.com/

Check out this blog

Well, hi ya doing? Christmas is over and all the madness of shopping gone with it. I was kinda relieved by it. My grand kids liked what they got. Of course they would say that to me anyway. They are great kids. My sister is still waiting to see her grand kids, so she is still waiting for that relieve phase.

I was playing around the other day and just looking at other blogs and came across one I thought everyone who cooks might like. It is the French Cooking Board. You have got to try the Feta Salmon Loaf, she gets recipes for a lot of places and makes up some too. So I really dont have an idea where these came from. We don't mean to not credit anyone but, we copy or make up or change recipes to fit our family. You can buy a large pork shoulder (butt) roast and cut it into 2-3 chunks, divide the mix up and freeze for easy meals.

1/2 cup Teriyaki Sauce
1/2 cup Stir fry sauce
1/4 cup Hoison sauce
1 Tbls. sesame oil
1 Tbls. 5 spice powder (I used Penzeys Bankok Blend seasoning)
2 large cloves garlic, chopped or pressed fine
Dry or fresh cilantro (use dry now add fresh later)
Cole slaw mix or broccoli slaw mix
12 soft flour tortillas

Mix all ingredients together except roast, cole slaw and tortillas. Place pork in plastic bag and pour mix. Smoosh around to get coverage on roast. Seal well and let sit for 8-24 hours. Put in crockpot and cook for 6-8 hours on low.

When done, transfer to cutting board and shred with two forks. Lay in tortilla with slaw mix and fresh cilantro. Add a bit of the juice, roll or fold tortilla and enjoy.

I cut up a large roast into 3, made the mix and divided between 3 roasts, and froze. Will buy slaw mix and tortillas as needed. A friend of mine told me about it. It is terrific!
Clay Bake ware has been around since almost the beginning. From Indians and Egypt this has been an old tried and true method. I can't believe I just found this.. You take the bake ware and soak it in water in the sink for about 15 minutes then put, lets say a chicken in, with the onion and all the aromatics ( garlic cloves, rosemary, tyme, or whatever you prefer) and put it in the oven.. The clay bake ware keeps the chicken moist and browns it to perfection. It does take a few times cooking in this to get use to it..... but believe me, you will cook in one all the time once you do.... Check out this new, old, bake ware.. and type of baking.. It is moist and delicious..
Thanks for listening.
Mama's Gals
Mama' Gals Kitchen
http://mamasgalskitchentalk.blogspot.com/

Welcome to our talk.....and thanks for listening

Hello,
We , at Mama's Gals Kitchen, are just starting this blog and would like to welcome all of you.
